“Minimally Invasive Total Joint Replacement: Getting You Back to What You Love to Do.”
A LIFESTYLE, HEALTH AND ACTIVE AGING EXPO FOR ADULTS 50+
The Milton & Betty Katz JCC and the Greater Atlantic City Chamber announce the return of the Senior & Adult Expo on Thursday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Katz Jewish Community Center.
The Milton & Betty Katz JCC and the Greater Atlantic City Chamber Senior & Adult Expo in partnership with Shore Medical Center has become the largest active adult health and wellness exhibit in New Jersey. Its focus on lifestyle and active aging for baby boomers and seniors has reached more than 3,000 adults, seniors and caregivers each year in its eight-year history.
Thousands of area residents will attend this lifestyle, health and active aging expo for baby boomers and seniors for free health screenings by Shore Medical Center including cardiac and stroke risk assessments, blood glucose and cholesterol screenings, more than 80 vendors, a five-part speaker series, interactive demonstrations and a morning speaker panel on the topic of “Minimally Invasive Total Joint Replacement – Getting You Back to What you Love to Do.”
“The event is targeted to the 50+ adult who wants to gather information about living a healthy active lifestyle,” Chief Operating Officer of the JCC Marg Mancuso said. “The event is not only informative but fun as well.”
The morning speaker panel will offer a free continental breakfast at 10:30 a.m. and provide guests an opportunity to ask the panel of professionals questions on the topic of “Minimally Invasive Total Joint Replacement – Getting You Back to What You Love to Do,” featuring Shore Medical Center’s Chief of Orthopedic Surgery Dr. Stephen J. Zabinski, MD of Shore Orthopedic University Associates and Dr. Jamie Huysman of Caron Treatment Centers.
“We are excited to add another health-related component to the Senior & Active Adult Expo,” Mancuso said. “The addition of a medical professional speaker panel last year was so successful that we want to continue this component of the expo and this year we have been able to bring together some of the top medical professionals in our area to help baby boomers and seniors considering total joint replacements learn about minimally invasive procedures and the recovery process.”
In addition, flu shots will be provided by Kmart Pharmacy, screenings for hearing will be performed by Total Hearing Care, and educational seminars will be hosted by Shore Neurosurgeon Dr. Francis Kralick on “Treating the Aging Spine” at 11:30 a.m., “Restore Your Vaginal Health – Learn the Latest Breakthrough Treatment Options” hosted by Dr. Eric Grossman, OBGYN of Advocare Premier OBGYN of South Jersey at 12 p.m., Shore Rheumatologist Dr. Linda Brecher on “Healthy Bones, Know Your Risk for Osteoporosis” at 12:30 p.m., as well as Dr. Scott Hollander, Interventional Radiologist for Vascular Access Center on “Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)” at 1 p.m.
Free shuttles sponsored by the Atlantic County Department of Intergenerational Services will be available from the Shore Mall in Egg Harbor Township, as well as 55 and older communities in Longport, Margate, Ventnor and Atlantic City beginning at 10:00 a.m. and operating every 30 minutes. Special caregivers are encouraged to attend.
“We recognize the dedication and involvement of special caregivers in this growing segment of the Atlantic County population,” Mancuso said. “Whether you are a concerned relative, a specialist in the assistance of the aging, or someone involved in the industries that focus on assistance, we will have available a wealth of information, including a special booth section, lectures and interactive discussions just for you.”
